The IU women's golf team finished 15th out of 15 teams competing in the Central District Invitational Monday and Tuesday in Parrish, Fla. \nThe Hoosiers had a promising start shooting a team score of 316, but fell off in the final two rounds of the tournament, carding a 323 and 328. IU finished a total of 88 strokes off the first-place pace set by tournament champion University of Missouri, and 25 strokes behind the 14th-place team Kansas State University. \nLeading the way for the lady Hoosiers was freshman Elaine Harris who shot a three-round total of 234 (73-79-82) good for a 46th-place finish. Following Harris was senior Bethany Brunner in 54th with a 238 (78-79-81), junior Molly Redfearn in 68th with a 244 (83-80-81), junior Katie Carlson in 72nd with a 251 (82-85-84) and freshman Stephanie Mayotte in 75th with a 262 (83-88-91). There were 75 competitors in the tournament.\nMissouri took the tournament championship with a three-round total of 879 (292-295-292). The top individual competitors were Stacy Lewis of the University of Arkansas and Amy Schmucker of the University of Michigan, both shot even par 216.\nThe Hoosiers' next tournament begins Feb. 28 in Houston, Tex., at the Verizon "Mo" Morial Invitational.
