Around The Game

Prior debut pushed back with Cubs' washout Tuesday\nCHICAGO -- Mark Prior had to wait an extra day to make his 2005 debut.\nRain caused the postponement of Tuesday's game between the San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs.\nThe game was rescheduled as part of a doubleheader at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday. Chicago's Kerry Wood will face Jake Peavy in the opener. Prior, activated from the disabled list Tuesday, pitches against San Diego's Brian Lawrence in the second game.\nPrior and Peavy had been scheduled to start Tuesday, when the temperature at Wrigley Field was in the upper 40s.\n"You'd rather have good conditions," Wood said. "Hopefully, tomorrow we have a nice day, and we get both games both games in, and we get good pitching."\nPrior and Cubs manager Dusty Baker were not available after the rainout was announced.\n"I'd have liked to have gotten this one in today," Padres manager Bruce Bochy said.\nPrior went on the disabled list March 25 because of inflammation in his right elbow. He made a rehabilitation start for Triple-A Iowa at Albuquerque last Thursday, allowing six runs in the first inning but only one more over the next five.

Dunleavy to miss game; Maggette \nout for season\nLOS ANGELES -- L.A. Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy was to miss Tuesday night's game against Utah at the Staples Center because of a medical emergency involving his father.\nDunleavy is expected to return from New York, where he has been since Sunday, when circumstances permit, the team said. Assistant Jim Eyen will run the team while Dunleavy is away.\nAlso, guard Corey Maggette will miss the NBA season's final five games because of a torn ligament in his left wrist, leaving the Clippers without their leading scorer.\nMaggette's wrist was set in a cast Monday for two weeks. He averaged a career-high 22.2 points in 66 games this season. He had planned to sit out last Saturday's game against San Antonio, but he decided to play and scored 24 points in a 125-124 double-overtime loss.
