'Earnest' to close run at Brown County Playhouse

\nOscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest" will make the final run of its month-long stay at Brown County Playhouse from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. through August 28. The late 19th-century comedy tells the story of Jack, a Victorian man with a fictional younger brother Ernest. Admission is $10 for ages 25 and under, and $17 for everyone else. Lilly book exhibit not just for kids

\nThe Lilly Library will hold its summer exhibition "Not Just for Children: Pop-Up and Movable Books" through August 27. The free exhibit features books from the 15th to 21st centuries, spanning from early children's books to modern pop-up and artists' books. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m Saturday. For more information, call 855-2452.\n

3 artists' work on exhibit at Arts Center

\nThe John Waldron Arts Center will present its textile and sculpture exhibit through August 27. The Rosemary P. Miller Gallery will show the works of Carol Myers in fabrics and fiber, iron oxide prints on silk by Susan Alma Sammis and sculptures of Margaret Gohn, created with paper mâché and fabric. Lotus calls for helping hands

\nThe Lotus World Music and Arts Festival will hold a volunteer call-out 10 a.m. to noon August 27 in the Monroe County Public Library Auditorium. Start the morning with spicy food, dance contest

\nThe Bloomington Community Farmers' Market will host the 17th Annual Salsa Contest and Salsa Dance Contest beginning at 10:00 a.m. August 27. Dance contestants can register until 9 a.m. the morning of the event. Judges will taste the salsa at 10 a.m. and award prizes in both the raw and cooked categories. Registration is $4 before August 27 and $5 the day of the event. For more information, call 339-4442.
