Aug. 25, 2004\nIU Senior Jeff Overton reaches the semifinals in the U.S. Amateur Golf Championships. Overton advanced to the semis after defeating St. John's alumnus Andy Svoboday 2-up. \nThe IU senior fell 2-and-1 to the defending NCAA champion Ryan Moore.

Aug. 23, 2000\nIU senior goalkeeper T.J. Hannig and midfielder Ryan Mack are selected as two of 15 finalists for the Hermann Trophy. The two Hoosiers were nominated by the media and coaches for college soccer's player of the year award.\nCollegesoccer.com also named Hannig a preseason National Player of the Year candidate and preseason All-American first team. Mack received honorable mention.

Aug. 23 and 26, 1995\nThe football team suffers yet another blow to their backfield early in the week as sophomore halfback Alex Smith falls with a hamstring injury. The team removes him from practice with the expectation he would return by the start of the season. Shortly before Smith goes down, senior halfback Sean Glover returns from a similar injury.\nJust three days later junior Michael Batts returns to practice after missing time due to an ankle injury.
