The IU field hockey team emerged from its road trip to the Northeast with two victories, opening the season 2-0.\nThe Hoosiers defeated New Hampshire Saturday 3-1 to kickoff the season. Seniors Kayla Bashore and Nikki Orciuch tallied goals for the Hoosiers, with a third goal coming from junior Lydia Schrott. \nBashore scored the first Hoosier goal early in the match off a missed penalty corner, and Orciuch quickly followed with her goal in the 16th minute with an assist by senior Lesley Wiler. Schrott added the third Hoosier goal four minutes into the second half. \nMichelle Tavener scored the lone New Hampshire goal in the 17th minute. Despite allowing three goals, New Hampshire goalkeeper Margaux Shute was still able to record 19 saves for the \nWildcats. \nWith the victory, the Hoosiers improved to 3-3 in season openers under head coach Amy Robertson. \nThe Hoosiers traveled to Boston Sunday to take on Northeastern University, with IU coming out on top, 3-2. \nSchrott, who recorded all three Hoosier goals, paced the team. She tallied goals in the fifth, 32nd and 58th minutes. Wiler assisted on Schrott's first score of the match. \nThe Hoosiers scored twice in the first half and once more in the second. Northeastern was led by goals from Jay Quinn and Ashley Webber. Quinn's score tied the game at one in the first half, but Schrott responded with two more goals for the Hoosiers in the second. \nThe victory improved the Hoosiers to 2-0 for the season and marks the first time since 2003 that an IU field hockey team started the season at 2-0. \nThe road trip continues for the Hoosiers Friday when they travel to Boone, N.C., to take on Appalachian State \nUniversity.
