IU plays host in Credit Union Invite Saturday

The IU women 's volleyball team will kickoff its season this weekend by hosting the IU Credit Union Invitational Saturday.\nAfter a successful season opener Thursday, head coach Katie Weismiller has high hopes for her blossoming squad. Throughout her 13-year term as IU head coach, she has made three NCAA tournament appearances and proved that her squad is a force to be reckoned with.\nWith the addition of Matt Affolder and Dottie Porch, both assistant coaches, IU has improved its record to an impressive 13-0 in season openers through this year. The Hoosiers will play Indiana State at 11 a.m. before moving on to face Western Kentucky at 7 p.m.\nAge could be a factor that works in the Hoosiers' favor as a group of returning upperclassmen joins an extensive number of incoming players. Of the 17 players on team, over half are freshmen. The Hoosiers hope to use this combination of youth and experience to rise to the top of the Big Ten Conference.
