The IU men's golf team played its way to an eighth- place finish in the Wolverine Intercollegiate Sunday, shooting a three-round total of 862 at the University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich.\nThe Wolverines took advantage of playing on their home course by shooting an 839 to claim the championship, including having three players in the top six. Xavier University and the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, tied for second, 11 shots behind the host team, while Kansas State University and Iowa rounded out the top five.\nLeading the way for the Hoosiers was freshman Jorge Campillo, who finished outside the top 15 for the first time. Campillo's 215 was good enough for a tie for 22nd, while fellow freshman Drew Allenspach finished one stroke behind him at 216, securing a tie for 26th place.\nRounding out the Hoosier lineup was sophomore Santiago Quirarte who tied for 35th, senior Scott Seibert who tied for 50th and freshman Brandon Pike who tied for 63rd in his first tournament for IU.\nFreshman Seth Brandon was also in the field, but playing as an individual, meaning his scores would not count toward the team's total. Brandon joined Seibert in a tie for 50th.\nThis was the final tune-up for the Hoosiers before the Big Ten/PAC Ten Challenge in Chicago Oct. 3 and 4.
