The IU women's volleyball team abruptly ended its winning streak this weekend with losses to Ohio State and Penn State. The momentum that had been leading the Hoosiers fizzled Friday as they lost 30-26, 30-20 and 30-22 to the No. 18 Buckeyes and then 30-24, 30-10 and 30-18 to the No. 4 Nittany Lions Saturday.\n"Both games were tough losses for us this weekend," IU head coach Katie Weismiller said. "Each time we came out strong in the first set, but our passing and serving needed to be worked on."\nEven with 11 consecutive kills by freshman Erica Short, Ohio State averaged a .243 hitting percentage compared to IU's .153. Despite a strong defensive showing, IU's 31 digs did not match the 40 saves Ohio State put out.\nThe Hoosiers couldn't rebound from the loss as their season record dropped to 8-8 after falling to Penn State.\nAlthough IU only lost by six points in the first set, the Nittany Lions pulled away in the second and third sets.\nThe two losses drop the Hoosiers' Big Ten record to 1-3. The team will return home and face Minnesota and Iowa next weekend in Bloomington.
