IU volleyball recruit Allison Regas just keeps piling on the prep accolades.\nRegas, a 6-foot-1-inch setter from Jacksonville, Fla., recently added the 2005 Times-Union First Coast Volleyball Player of the Year award to go along with class 3A first team all-state recognition for the 2005 season.\n"I am never surprised by the awards that she receives or the way she handles her recognition," IU coach Katie Weismiller said in a statement. "Allison is first class and we are so excited to have her as part of our program starting in the fall of 2006."\nRegas has earned many other awards in her career at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, where she started playing for the varsity team in eighth grade. She earned All-America honors in 2004, as well as being named Dairy Farmers and Florida Athletic Coaches Association Player of the Year in the same year.\nShe also earned first team all-state and all-city recognition for 2004. \nAs a member of the squad at The Bolles School, she helped lead her team to a pair of regional championships and three state semi-final finishes in five years.\nRegas will add to an already young IU squad that featured 10 freshmen this past season.\n"I chose Indiana because it is competitive in both athletics and academics," Regas said in a statement. "I also loved the coaches, players and atmosphere of the school."\nWith Regas in the fold for the fall of 2006, IU will look to rebound from back-to-back seasons with fewer than 10 wins. The Hoosiers finished 9-23 last season with a 2-18 record in Big Ten play. \n"We are very excited with the addition of Allison to our program," Weismiller said in a statement. "Not only is she a great setter, she is also well-rounded. She will provide us with a great skill set, and her volleyball intelligence is great as well"
