WHAT: Showalter Fountain\nWHERE YOU CAN FIND IT: In the Fine Arts Plaza in front of the IU Auditorium\nWHY YOU SHOULD CARE: The Showalter Fountain is sometimes called the centerpiece of campus and depicts "The Birth of Venus," the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Former IU faculty member Robert Laurent (1890-1970) designed the two-ton sculpture, which was funded by Grace Montgomery Showalter. She was the first woman elected to the IU Foundation's board of directors. \nSource: www.iub.edu.
