The IU Department of Theatre and Drama recently announced in a press release the shows for the upcoming 2006-2007 season. Included in this lineup are a variety of plays and musicals.\nAs the season opener, IU will stage Nobel Prize winner Harold Pinter's "The Dinner Party." Set in the 1950s, this drama challenges the socially conformist society of the times. \nAlso slated to run next year is "Urinetown: The Musical," Greg Kotis and Mark Hollman's tale of one city's struggle against a large corporation that controls its water supply, including each citizen's "privilege to pee," according to the release. \nIU will bring to the stage Arthur Miller's "The Crucible," a politically-charged allegorical drama set in Puritan Salem during the notorious witch hunts of the late 1600s.\nMaking its debut this season is "Reel," a new play by Paul Shoulberg, a dark comedy that details the conflicting aspirations and personalities on a Hollywood film set.\nNext in the new season's lineup is "Side Man," a Tony award-winning play that examines the role of jazz music in the American family.\nThe Department of Theatre will stage the classic Shakespearean comedy of mistaken identities, "Twelfth Night." \nClosing out the season are Charles Mee's "Big Love" and Maury Yestin's "Nine: The Musical." \nFor more information on the upcoming season, visit the Department of Theatre and Drama's Web site at www.indiana.edu/~thtr or call the Audience Development office at 855-0514 for a brochure.
