IU senior golfer Shannon Johnson knew she had been playing well. She had carded round after round of sub-80 golf. What she didn't know was how dominant her play would be at the UNLV Spring Invitational in Las Vegas during spring break. Johnson's three-day score of 211 (68-75-68) tied the IU school record, but more importantly, was good enough to finish at the top of the leaderboard.\n"It is surreal right now and hasn't really hit me yet," Johnson said of her record-breaking performance. "I finally felt like things were starting to click and coach (Clint) Wallman really helped me to keep my focus down the stretch."\nJohnson wasn't the only Hoosier to get in on the low-scoring action. Sophomore Elaine Harris was up to the task of tying a record of her own. Her three scores of 76, 74 and 78 gave her a spring season low of 228. With her 78 on the third day, Harris has broken 80 in 12 of her last 14 outings. \nThree other Hoosiers were on the tournament ballad. Freshman Tara Boone showed consistency with a 78 followed by consecutive rounds of 81. Fellow freshman Amber Lindgren shot 79-80-86, good enough for a tie in 86th with a 245 overall. Senior Katie Carlson rounded out the team with a 251 (86-78-87). \nWallman said he was pleased with the effort of the team but knows much work and some fine-tuning is in store as the Hoosiers point toward the Big Ten Championships and the Lady Illini Spring Invitational on April 15 and 16.\n"There are certainly a lot of positives we can take from this weekend," Wallman said. "I thought we played solidly all weekend long in difficult conditions. There are some things we still need to work out to become a better contender at the Big Ten level, but this will certainly give us some momentum as we get closer to the Big Ten Championships"
