After winning the Florida State Invitational and beating two ranked teams along the way, the Hoosiers played host to the IU Classic this weekend and ended with an overall record of 2-1.\nOn Friday, IU opened up against the Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers and took a 2-1 victory.\nThe Hoosiers came out swinging early when center fielder Kim Richards hit a home run in the top of the second. IU would stay on top for the remainder of the game, scoring the winning run in the top of the fourth when Hilltoppers' sloppy play and the Hoosiers' timely hitting pushed another run across.\nSenior pitcher Mariangge Bogado had a solid day in the circle, striking out seven and only allowing one run on one hit on the day.\nThe solid pitching and hitting would continue Saturday when the Hoosiers took on Wright State University in the first game.\nIU scored one run in the second inning, and then followed with a three-run inning in the fourth. The Hoosiers scored a dominating seven runs in the fifth and ended up winning 11-1 in five innings.\nRichards hit another home run, her fifth of the season, and freshman shortstop Stephanie Pellerito went 3-for-3 from the plate en route to IU out-hitting Wright State 12-4.\nIn the final game of the tournament for the Hoosiers, the team came out looking to go undefeated in its second consecutive tournament after going 6-0 last weekend. IU fell just short, losing 4-3 to Western Kentucky.\nIU scored first again, but the Hilltoppers made a comeback, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead.\nThe Hoosiers will take on the University of Illinois-Chicago Tuesday before Big Ten play start over the weekend against Ohio State.
