Union Board: 'Show Me the Funny'

Friday is the deadline for submitting entries to the Union Board's "Show Me the Funny" contest. Competitors must submit a five- to seven-minute stand-up routine, sketch or improvisational bit containing either one or two performers. This competition is open to all IU students. The Union Board expects a very \ndiverse group of entrants, ranging from amateur comedians to those who have acting experience or are already performing in a group.\nA selected panel of judges from the IU and Bloomington communities will rate performances based on content, originality and crowd reaction.\nThe preliminary round of judging will occur during spring break and will narrow the pool of entries down to seven to 10 acts. Finalists will be contacted by March 20 and will then perform in a showcase open to students March 29. \nAt this performance, the final round of judging will take place and awards will be given out. Second- and third-place acts will receive gift certificates for various Bloomington-area businesses, \nwhile the first prize entry will win the opportunity to perform as April's Comedy Caravan Opener. At least one of these performances with the Comedy Caravan will afford the winner the chance to perform alongside two nationally touring comedians. \nFor more information, contact Scott Carrico at ubcomedy@indiana.edu.
