Hoosiers hold Indiana Relays

After a split meet that took them on a second spring break to California and Florida, members of the IU women's track and field team meet again as one for the Indiana Relays back in Bloomington.\nThe Hoosiers will play host to and compete in the event at 5:30 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Indiana Relays is the first home meet of the outdoor season.\n"It has been a while since the entire team has competed together, so this will give us a chance to perform well on our home track and feed off each other's energy," said senior distance runner Larra Overton. "It is definitely a boost to run on our home track. We have an amazing facility and great fan support, so running at home is always good to break up our tough travel schedule."\nThe goals for this weekend's meet are just like any other -- post the best time possible and compete as hard as possible. The Hoosiers say they believe setting this type of standard is attainable, especially this weekend, because they just came from two meets that boasted some of the best competition in the country.\n"Last weekend we ran against some of the top competition in the nation, so that was great preparation for each and every time we step on the track," said Overton.\nThe Hoosiers plan to use the experience gained from competing against some of the nation's elite to have a successful meet. \nA solid performance for this weekend means something more than just winning the entire event or setting a personal best mark. It means using the meet to gain valuable tools that can be used throughout the rest of the season and to build on lessons learned in last weekend's events, Overton said.\n"We are looking to have solid performances this weekend and gain some confidence going into a tough few weeks of training and competition," she said. "Whether you're racing the top person in the country or your own teammates, you are always competing to push your personal limits"
