With a 5-2 win over Wisconsin on Sunday, the No. 26 IU women's tennis team propelled coach Lin Loring to his 300th Big Ten victory.\nThe benchmark puts Loring in the company of legends. Former basketball coach Bob Knight and former baseball coach Bob Morgan are the only other coaches in IU history to have achieved 300 conference victories.\nLoring said the milestone was a reflection of the hard work of many people over the course of his 29 years at IU.\n"From the assistant coaches and the players to the athletic trainers and academic counselors, it has been a real team effort. We've had great support at IU," Loring said.\nThe Hoosiers (14-5, 4-1) split road matches on the weekend, losing 7-0 to No. 6 Northwestern before the historic win at Wisconsin.\nWhile Loring said he thought the team competed well against the top-ranked Wildcats, junior Laura McGaffigan had hoped for a better match.\n"I think we were disappointed after the match against Northwestern," McGaffigan said. "We hoped to do better."\nThe Hoosiers opened the match by winning the doubles point for the 15th time this season. They went on to win four of six singles matches to claim their fourth Big Ten win of the season.\n"The match was a lot tougher than we thought it was going to be," said No. 1 singles player Sarah Batty. "We worked hard, and we did what we had to do."\nMcGaffigan won the decisive point for the Hoosiers at No. 2 singles, defeating Wisconsin's Chelsea Nusslock 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). \nAt No. 1 singles, senior Batty won a straight set match over the Badgers' Kaylan Caiati 6-2, 6-0. Freshman Sigrid Fischer won handily as well at the No. 5 position 6-0, 6-1. Junior Cecile Perton came from behind to earn the final point for the Hoosiers, winning 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (5).\n"It was great for us to win a Big Ten match on the road," Loring said.
