IU women's basketball coach Sharon Versyp resigned today to accept a head coaching position at her alma mater, Purdue. \nIn Versyp's first and only year with the Hoosiers, she led the team to a 19-14 record and 9-7 in the conference. The team also made its first postseason tournament since 2002 when the Hoosiers advanced to the Women's National Invitation Tournament quarterfinals. \n"We appreciate Sharon's efforts at Indiana and wish her well in her future endeavors," IU Athletics Director Rick Greenspan said in a statement.\nAccording to an IU press release, the University - which just completed a search and hiring process for the men's team and new coach Kelvin Sampson - will immediately begin a national search for Versyp's replacement. \nVersyp was a four-year starter as a player at Purdue from 1984-1988. She ranks ninth in Boilermaker history with 1,565 career points, fourth in single game assists with 12 and seventh in career assists with 418.\nCheck back for updates.
