Arts Institute holds open auditions this week

WHO: African American \nChoral Ensemble\nWhen: 7 p.m. today\nWhere: Neal-Marshall Black Cultural Center, \nRoom A219\nMore Information: Both instrumentalists and vocalists are invited to audition for this group, which features more than 80 singers. Vocalists should bring one prepared piece, with or without accompaniment. Instrumentalists should bring one selection demonstrating technical and musical skill. Equipment will be provided if a cassette/CD needs to be used for accompaniment. Ensemble members can receive two credits for A110: African American and African Diaspora Studies and a possible X070 credit in the School of Music.\nWHO: African American Choral Ensemble\nWhen: 7 p.m. Thursday\nWHere: Neal-Marshall Black Cultural Center Grand Hall\nMore Information: Now in its 35th year at IU, this group combines the sounds of classic R&B, funk and contemporary urban black popular music. Horns and rhythm section players should bring their instruments and be prepared to play solo and accompany in a combo setting on an R&B/soul piece. Drums and amplifiers will be provided. Vocalists will be asked to match pitches and harmonize and should also prepare one a capella piece or bring a recording along with which to sing. Members can receive course credit for A120: African American and African Diaspora Studies.
