An anonymous seller sold an NCAA championship ring -- from the Hoosiers' historic undefeated 1976 season -- for a whopping $50,100 on eBay at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Former Hoosier assistant coach Harold Andreas was the original owner of the ring.\nThe seller received the ring from Andreas' estate sale, according to The Associated Press.\nPotential buyers waged a bidding war for two weeks after the ring was posted Nov. 23, with an opening bid of $2,500. The Indianapolis Star reported that there were at least 25 rings from the '76 championship in existence that were given to 13 players and various others members of the program. \nAndreas gave Bob Knight his first coaching job at Cuyahoga Falls High School in Ohio in 1962.\nThe Hoosiers' 1976 championship culminated a season in which IU went a perfect 32-0. The '76 Hoosiers are the last team to go undefeated in an NCAA college basketball season. IU defeated Michigan in an 86-68 blowout victory in the championship game to close its nearly unprecedented run. Rings were distributed to thank those who played a part in the team's success.
