Showing of 'The Street Fighter'

WHEN: 7 p.m., 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday\nWHERE: The Cinemat, 123 S. Walnut St.\nMORE INFORMATION: Starring Sonny Chiba, "The Street Fighter" is an ultra-violent kung-fu classic. The movie follows the exploits of Chiba as he exacts vengeance on a gang of criminals. $4 admission.

Kinsey exhibition explores cinema

WHEN: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday\nWHERE: Kinsey Institute, Morrison Hall 313, 1165 E. Third St.\nMORE INFORMATION: This free exhibition explores the representation of GLBT characters in Hollywood and independent films. Assembled by guest curator Brian J. Woodman, the exhibit features a variety of film posters, photographs, movie stills and other cinema-related ephemera.

IUAM hosts faculty show reception

Seventh St.\nMORE INFORMATION: The exhibit features a diverse range of works by about 30 current and emeriti faculty artists from IU's Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts as they address the interaction of art with science and technology.

Rap battle and poetry slam

Seventh St.\nMORE INFORMATION: This exhibition of original prints from the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction surveys the use of the photographic medium by contemporary artists to express ideas about sexuality and gender and explores the visual impact of the human figure.

Computer music and video recital\nWHEN: 8 p.m. Saturday\nWHERE: Auer Hall\nMORE INFORMATION: The Center for Electronic and Computer Music recital with director Jeffrey Hass and assistant director Christopher Cook featuring 10 student performances. Free.

Duo Erato classical guitar performance\nWHEN: 8 p.m. Saturday\nWHERE: John Waldon Arts Center Auditorium, 122 S. Walnut St.\nMORE INFORMATION: Duo Erato performs an elegant and lyrical repertoire that spans the ages. Talented guitar soloists Martha Masters and Risa Carlson join for this evocative concert that includes a newly commissioned piece by Italian composer Simone Iannarelli inspired by the paintings of Frida Kahlo. The performance is $15 general admission, $12 for students.
