IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The IU men's basketball team fell to the Iowa Hawkeyes 81-75 Saturday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa. Guard Adam Haluska led the Hawkeyes with 33 points on 5-for-11 3-point shooting.\nThe Hawkeye defense baffled IU's junior forward D.J. White throughout the game, holding to him to just four shot attempts for a total of six points. Senior guard Rod Wilmont paced the Hoosiers with 24 points, while senior guard Earl Calloway contributed 16.\nThe two teams went into halftime tied at 37, but it was the Hawkeyes who controlled most of the second half. The Hoosiers finally regained the lead at the 14-minute mark, but they went the next five minutes without a basket. The Hoosiers kept it close in the final minutes, but Iowa's strong free-throw shooting down the stretch put the game out of reach. Foul trouble plagued both teams as five players fouled out of the game.\nThe Hawkeyes nailed 32-of-37 free throws in the contest, including a 10-of-11 tab from Haluska and a perfect 10-of-10 from forward Tyler Smith. They outrebounded the Hoosiers 42 to 25, including a 15-6 advantage on the offensive end.\nThe win gives the Hawkeyes the 29th in their last 31 home games and helped them improve to 13-10 overall and 5-4 in the Big Ten.\nThe loss dropped the Hoosiers to 16-6 overall and 6-3 in the Big Ten.\nIU will return to action Saturday afternoon to host Illinois.\nSee the BasketBlog and Monday's Indiana Daily Student for more coverage of the IU men's basketball team.
