UPDATE: IU falls to Michigan State, 66-58

Hoosiers lose 13th straight at Breslin Center

For the 13th straight time, the IU men’s basketball team lost at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Mich. This time however, the Hoosiers went into halftime leading by 10, only to surrender 46 second-half points to Michigan State en route to a 66-58 defeat Saturday night.\nThe Hoosiers took advantage of 14 Spartan turnovers in the first half of the game to take the lead into halftime. But two Spartan runs in the second half – including a 14-0 outburst – put the game out of reach for the Hoosiers.\nMichigan State guard Drew Neitzel exploded in the second half of the contest with 15 points after tallying just two in the first half of play. The junior poured in 3-of-6 three-pointers in 39 minutes of action, and overcame eight turnovers in the contest. Neitzel was one of three Spartans in double-figures, along with forward Raymar Morgan – who led the squad with 18 – and guard Travis Walton, who tallied 13 points and dished out six assists.\nIU freshman guard Armon Bassett led all scorers in the game with a career-high 25 points on 4-of-6 three-point shooting, while junior guard A.J. Ratliff tallied 10 – all of which came in the first half.\nIU junior forward D.J. White remained silent for most of the night, tallying just nine points on 1-of-7 shooting from the field. The Hoosiers big man also committed five turnovers.\nWith the loss, the Hoosiers fell to 18-9 overall and 8-6 in the Big Ten while the Spartans improved to 21-8 overall and 8-6 in conference play. They will travel to Evanston, Ill., Wednesday night to take on the Northwestern Wildcats.
