Two suicide bombers blew themselves up Tuesday in a crowd of Shiite pilgrims streaming toward the holy city of Karbala, Iraq, killing 93 people in one of several attacks targeting the faithful ahead of a weekend holiday.

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Indonesia killed at least 70 people and injured hundreds, authorities said, predicting that the toll would rise. The quake struck Sumatra island and was felt as far away as neighboring Malaysia and Singapore, where some tall buildings were evacuated.
