Where to find it: On exhibit in “Lost and Found: Art Through Recycled Objects” at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures, 416 N. Indiana Ave.

Why you should care: In many societies, dolls play an important role in the lives of children and adults. In some cultures, dolls teach children about their future roles as adults in the community. In others, dolls are religious symbols or representations of deities. The dolls made by the Seminole people of Florida are fashioned from cotton fabric and the fibers of the palmetto plant and are dressed in the traditional Seminole regalia.
