Classical pianist O’Riley to perform tonight

Christopher O’Riley, a pianist and the host of NPR’s “From the Top” classical-music program, will perform at 8 p.m. today at the IU Auditorium.\nO’Riley has redefined classical music by creating and performing his arrangements of rock bands such as Radiohead and singer-songwriters Elliott Smith and Nick Drake, as well as his classical interpretations of Shostakovich and Mozart.\nTonight’s recital will feature O’Riley’s transcriptions of Radiohead and Shostakovich. “True Love Waits,” his first recording of his Radiohead arrangements, was critically acclaimed. His latest recording, “Home to Oblivion: An Elliott Smith Tribute,” will be released April 11 and is already available to download through Apple iTunes.\nTicket prices are $23 to $33 for general admission and $13 to $23 for IU students and are available through Ticketmaster and the IU Auditorium box office, open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
