I read the “Interfaith service bothers Bloomington resident” letter (May 17) by a not surprisingly unidentified “Christian” (editor’s note: the author of the letter was Bloomington resident Scott Tibbs) who rambled on, quoting passages from that famous fictional work, the Bible. I cannot understand why people who are steeped in religious cults such as Christianity, Islam or whatever, feel that their beliefs are the only right beliefs. How incredibly arrogant and hateful such people are. Christians appear to hate more than other religions. Why is that? If Christians read their supposed holy book, they would find that Jesus preached love. He preached tolerance and not superstition. He preached humility, not arrogance. Of course, there was no real individual such as Jesus since it is historically evident the figure was constructed piecemeal from other pagan gods, but some of what he supposedly taught are excellent ways to live. Why do Christians forget that Jesus preached love, not hatred?
Jesus Christ just one of many paths
