Singer-songwriter David Bazan will perform at 8 p.m. today in the John Waldron Arts Center Auditorium. The concert will be one of many in the upcoming months for Bazan, who is promoting his debut solo EP “Fewer Moving Parts.”\nBazan was a member of the rock band Pedro the Lion. The band’s last album, “Achilles Heel,” was released in May 2004. In 2005, Bazan began making music under his own name as a solo artist, performing and recording “Fewer Moving Parts” by himself in his home studio, according to his Web site. The album features five new songs, each with electric and acoustic versions, for a total of 10 tracks.\nBesides putting together this solo EP, Bazan also worked on the electronic side project, “Headphones,” with Tim Walsh, a former member of Pedro the Lion, and Frank Lenz of Starflyer 59. The album uses electronic and rock elements and features sounds from synthesizers, live drums and Bazan’s vocals – but no guitars, according to his Web site. \nThe band Stereogum asked the Seattle native to cover the song “Let Down” in a cover compilation of songs from Radiohead’s “OK Computer” to celebrate the album’s 10th anniversary. “I still marvel at its sturdy construction and simple, sketch-like beauty,” David wrote in a note about “Let Down” on the Stereogum Web site, www.stereogum.com.\nElectronica band Casiotone for the Painfully Alone will open for Bazan. Tickets are $10 at the door and $8 in advance. \nFor more information on tonight’s concert, visit the Bloomington Area Arts Council Web site at www.artlives.org.
