IU will win if...\n-The Hoosiers can stop Michigan State running back Javon Ringer. Ringer is averaging 7.1 yards per carry, and if he has a day reminiscent of Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall – who put up 214 yards and a touchdown against IU – it could be a long day.\n-IU can play like they have on the road this year. IU’s only loss was to Illinois at home, and two weeks ago, the Hoosiers walked into a packed Kinnick Stadium at Iowa and defeated the Hawkeyes soundly on homecoming. Coincidentally, it will be homecoming again Saturday at Michigan State.
Michigan State offensive leaders\nPassing: QB Brian Hoyer – 95-165 for 1286 yards, 10 TDs, three INTs\nRushing: RB Javon Ringer – 103 rushes for 729 yards, four TDs, 7.1 yards per carry\nReceiving: WR Devin Thomas – 25 catches for 542 yards, \nfour TDs
Michigan State defensive leaders\nS Travis Key – 37 tackles, two INTs\nCB Kendell Davis-Clark – 37 tackles, two sacks\nDL Jonal Saint-Dic – 28 tackles, seven sacks, one fumble recovery
Michigan State will win if...\n-Javon Ringer can set up the pass with long run plays on first and second down, taking pressure off the Michigan State offense to convert third-and-long situations against IU’s pass rush, which ranks first in the nation with 29 sacks. \n-The Spartans can find a way to stop Kellen Lewis, who leads the Big Ten in total offense with 318.3 yards per game. The IU offense flows through the dually-talented Lewis, and stopping him could very well be the key to stopping the IU offense.
