What everyone is talking about this WEEKEND

Pete Stuttgen

Hoosier Hysteria:

The 2007-08 IU basketball season kicks off Friday. We hate to sound like a broken record, but ... Eric Gordon live at Assembly Hall for the first time, anyone? Don't forget to bring your two canned food items to benefit Hoosier Hills Food Bank.

Jay-Z:

The President of Def Jam is coming out of retirement (again) for a new concept album, the soundtrack to Ridley Scott's "American Gangster." Three tracks from the album, slated for release Nov. 7, are making the rounds online. In the remix of "I Get Money," Jay reflects on the height of his game: "I'm killin' the roof like Michael Vick." With the bad taste of Kingdom Come still in our mouth, WEEKEND hopes Jay makes good on that reflection.

Camping:

The days of camp-worthy weather are numbered. Gather a group of friends, some gear, beer and get to the woods for a good ol' camp-tastic time.

dundermifflininfinity.com:

Thanks to the Internet and Ryan's new business plan, the paper company has gone national. The new social-networking site lets users join a branch. The closest branch to Bloomington is in Terre Haute, which WEEKEND quickly joined as a "temp." We then blew all our Schrute Bucks on a computer, keyboard and stapler. Work sucks not only because our lovable friends from the Scranton, Pa., branch are so far away, but also because we couldn't afford a chair.

Comedians of Comedy:

The comedy tour featuring Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Jasper Reed and the 2006 High Times Man of the Year himself Doug Benson will crash-land in B-town on Nov. 6 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater . Tickets are $17 for students and can be purchased at the Buskirk-Chumley, Landlocked Music and Tracks.
