Underwood, Beyonce and Elton John among performers at first ever Movies Rock concert in L.A. to air Dec. 7

NEW YORK – Carrie Underwood, Beyonce and Elton John will be among the performers at the first-ever Movies Rock concert celebrating the relationship between music and film.\nThe event will be held Dec. 2 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles and will air Dec. 7 in a two-hour special on CBS. The concert is a production of Conde Nast Media Group in conjunction with the Producers Guild of America and the Entertainment Industry Foundation.\n“We wanted to create an extraordinary show that would pay tribute to the indelible impact music has on film,” Conde Nast Media Group President Richard Beckman said Wednesday in a statement.\nUnderwood will perform the title song from “The Sound of Music,” Beyonce will sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz” and John will pay tribute to music from animated films.\nMary J. Blige and John Legend will sing “As Time Goes By” from “Casablanca,” Fergie and Jennifer Hudson will perform “Live and Let Die” and “Goldfinger” from the James Bond movies and John Williams will lead an orchestra in a medley of his original film scores.\nMovies Rock magazine will accompany December’s subscriber issues of 14 Conde Nast magazines. The cover features Bill Murray channeling Elvis Presley, circa the Vegas years.
