The IU National Pan-Hellenic Council is hosting the 6th Annual Little 5 Stepdown Saturday at the IU Auditorium. \nStep Down is a show comprised of the art of stepping. Stepping is a dance that uses the body to make percussive beats and rhythms. First vice president of NPHC, senior Morgan White, is involved in conducting the step show event. \n“I am responsible for two big programs – one is homecoming and the other is the Little 5 step show,” White said.\nWhite said she has a committee helping plan the event, and all the teams have been preparing for the show.\n“A lot of the step teams have put a lot of work into this,” White said.\nThis year, the show will include six greek organizations – two sororities and four fraternities. White said the show is divided into two categories, one for the sororities and the other for the fraternities. First place wins $2,000 and second place wins $1,000, White said. \nThis year’s show will be hosted by comedian Tony Roberts, who has appeared on “BET Comic View,” White said.\nWhite said the show will be creative, with the six teams participating, a dance performance by IU Essence and a singing performance. \n“This is a way for the campus to see greek organizations on campus step,” White said. “It’s going to be a big show.”\nJunior Keyen Macklin, a member of Zeta Phi Beta sorority, is taking part in the show.\n“I am very excited about this year’s show,” Macklin said.\nZeta Phi Beta was the winner in the sorority category last year, and Macklin said they hope to be the winner again.\n“We definitely want to get first place,” Macklin said.\nMackin said that she is not stepping in the show, but she will have a part to play in her sorority’s production. \nMacklin said her sorority has been rehearsing a long time to make sure they uphold their win from last year, putting in roughly 35 hours of practice a week for the show. \n“I think, with the intensity and tricks that were done last year, all the teams will work hard to live up to last year’s show,” Macklin said.\nWhite said the doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the show and can be purchased at the IU Auditorium, White said. Students can bill them to their bursar account.\n“This is guaranteed to be a good show,” White said.
