Fiest is coming to the IU Auditorium 7:30 p.m. on Friday April 11. Fiest will be performing as part of the Little 500 festivities.

This weekend’s Little 500 festivities will begin 7:30 tonight at the IU Auditorium with a performance by Broken Social Scene member and now solo artist, Feist. \nIU Union Board and Spirit of ’68 Promotions have made this evening’s concert possible. It will begin with an opening act, Hayden, who is currently on tour with Feist. \nA Canadian indie rock artist, Leslie Feist, who goes by her last name, is a Juno Award-winning and Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter. Just five days ago, at the Juno Awards in Calgary, Alberta, she was named the winner in five different categories: “Songwriter,” “Artist,” “Album of the Year,” “Single of the Year” and “Pop Album.”\n“Feist is having a great year with “The Reminder,” Union Board Concerts Director Kathy Cook said. “We thought she would be a nice change of pace for the Little 5 show. There were a lot of rap concerts going on this week but nothing else like Feist.”\nFeist is best known for her 2007 release, “The Reminder,” which has also been nominated for a Grammy for “Best Pop Vocal Album.” She is also known for her collaborations with Kings of Convenience on their songs “Know-How” and “The Build-Up.” \nThis female songstress is gaining mass popularity among college-aged students, and while students may not think they know who she is, they are bound to have heard her on various commercials and TV shows. She is best known for her song “1 2 3 4” which premiered on a recent iPod commercial as well as her hit, “My Moon, My Man.”\n“Feist is a talented performer and will put on a fun show,” Cook said. “If people are interested in hearing some great music they should definitely come out.”\nOpening act Hayden is also a Canadian singer-songwriter who has been compared to Neil Young and others such as Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. His most recent release was in 2004 with Elk-Lake Serenade. \n“This being the first time I’ve seen her,” said freshman Brian Mazzara. “I’m curious to see how her sound crosses over to the live stage.”\nTickets are still available at the door for $25 for IU Bloomington students and $28 for the general public.
