Former top recruit Finch joins IU football program

Star defensive player Jerimy Finch was cleared to practice with the Hoosiers on Tuesday, according to an IU press release.
In 2007, Finch left high school rated as the No. 1 safety in the nation by Rivals.com and the top player in the Hoosier state by Rivals.com and Scout.com.
An Indianapolis native, Finch attended Florida last season for his freshman campaign but broke his leg after only three games. In those three games, Finch left the secondary to play linebacker and recorded seven tackles and an interception.
Finch collected Class 5A all-state honors in both his senior and junior campaigns.
He attended Warren Central High School where as a senior, Finch helped lead the school to its fourth consecutive Class 5A state title, the first high-school team to do so.
In his junior season, Finch recorded 11 tackles, returned an interception 42 yards and had a 55-yard punt return for a touchdown in the state title game his junior year. Finch ended his junior season with 98 tackles, 10 interceptions, five forced fumbles with three fumble recoveries.
