Leonard Slatkin, Joshua Bell and the IU Philharmonic Orchestra will kick off the Jacobs School of Music orchestral season with a sold-out concert on Sept. 17 at the IU Auditorium. All 3,200 concert tickets were complimentary and were made available Monday at the IU Auditorium and Musical Arts Center. They were distributed in less than three hours, said Stacy Brown, manager of the IU Auditorium Box Office. The program will include John Corigliano’s “Concert for Violin and Orchestra” (The Red Violin), which will be Bell’s first performance as a Jacobs faculty member. The show will also include Paul Hindemith’s “Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes by Carl Maria von Weber” and Beethoven’s “Overture to Egmont, Op. 84.”
