Mason Jennings to play at Bluebird tonight

Folk singer-songwriter Mason Jennings will bring his folk rock band to the Bluebird at 9 p.m. today. Tickets are $15 and are available online at Tickmaster.com

Minneapolis-based Jennings began playing guitar at age 13, the same year he began writing songs.

Jennings produced his first album in 1997 with a four-track in the living room of his rented home. On this album, he played all the instruments himself.

A year later, he formed a band that got the opportunity to fill in for the Jayhawks barely a week after the band had formed.

They were supposed to fill in for two weeks, but ended up playing four months. His also music appeared in the movie “Shelter.”

Earlier this year, Jennings signed with Brushfire Records, a record label owned by Jack Johnson, and he also toured with Johnson earlier this year.

The 33-year-old Jennings released his sixth full-length album, “In the Ever,” in May.
He is currently on tour in support of his new album. He will continue touring until the week of Thanksgiving, when his tour comes to a close in Omaha, Neb.
