More sexually explicit text messages have been released at a Detroit courthouse, just days before former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick goes to jail for lying about an affair with a top aide.
The aide, Christine Beatty, tried to keep them sealed. But a Wayne County judge ordered them to become part of the public record, and the Michigan Court of Appeals refused to stop him.
A court document with messages attached was unsealed Thursday afternoon.
Beatty is charged with perjury and obstruction of justice over her testimony in a civil trial. She and Kilpatrick denied having an affair, but messages on their city pagers revealed a relationship.
Kilpatrick has pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and goes to jail Tuesday.
