Pulling away to a speedy 12-3 lead against the visiting Northeastern Huskies, the IU men’s basketball team looked like they used their nine-day layoff to full advantage.
But then the Hoosiers became colder than the weather outside Assembly Hall.
The Huskies went on a 21 to 4 run after the 11:39-mark, closing out the first half with a 28-18 lead.
After the break, the two teams traded baskets, but IU failed to narrow Northeastern’s lead below eight, losing 55-42.
As they have been seemingly all season, the Hoosiers were plagued by turnovers; coughing the ball up 21 times to the Huskies’ 11.
Freshman forward Tom Pritchard turned in another impressive showing, pulling down 14 rebounds and scoring 12 points en route to his fourth double-double of the season.
The loss was the Hoosiers’ first at Assembly Hall this season, and sends their record below .500 at 5-6 overall.
IU’s next game is against Lipscomb at 6 p.m. Dec. 28 at Assembly Hall.
