At 5:18 p.m., an IUPD officer saw a black truck turn onto Fee Lane off 10th Street through a red light, which was in violation of the “no turn on red” sign at the intersection. The officer followed the car up Fee Lane, pulling the truck over past 17th Street across from the Gate 2 entrance to the Assembly Hall parking lot, Minger said.
After running a check on the license provided, which bore the name Devan Evans, Dumes’ legal last name, the officer found the license “came back driving while suspended,” Minger said. Dumes was arrested for driving with a suspended license, a class A misdemeanor, and also ticketed for disregarding the traffic sign at Fee Lane and 10th Street.
According to Monroe County Jail records, Dumes was released on his own recognizance soon after he came in.
Minger said the correspondent case file held no information regarding the reason why the license was suspended.
