In one of their most winnable games in conference season, the Hoosiers fell once again, losing. Losing to Penn State inside Assembly Hall for the first time in school history.
The game marked IU's eighth straight loss, the program's longest losing streak since 1964.
Cold shooting and timely Nittany Lions' baskets plagued the Hoosiers (5-12, 0-5) from the start. IU mounted several runs in the second half but failed to gain much ground. The Hoosiers cut Penn State's lead to five in the closing minutes, but failed to get any closer. IU never led in the game.
The Hoosiers shot just 37.0 percent on the night and hit only 3-of-15 attempts from behind the arc.
Junior guard Devan Dumes led the Hoosiers with 13 points and freshmen forwards Tom Pritchard and Nick Williams chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Three Nittany Lions combined to score nearly three-fourths of their team's points. Stanley Pringle scored 19 (6-10 FG), Jamelle Cornley chipped in 17 and Talor Battle added 12.
The Hoosiers have next week off and resume action on Jan. 25 when they host Minnesota.
