Angelou to speak at IU Auditorium

Maya Angelou, legendary poet and author, will make an appearance at 7 p.m. March 1 at the IU Auditorium. The program will be one of the signature events of ArtsWeek.

IU students, faculty and staff will be admitted free. Tickets will be available starting Monday at the IU Auditorium box office.

“She is a quintessential poet, historian, author, civil rights activist and playwright – one of the great voices of contemporary American literature,” Sherry Knighton-Schwandt, coordinator of ArtsWeek, said in a press release. “We are honored to welcome her to the stage on March 1 and delighted to offer this ArtsWeek signature event to the community.”

Angelou has written more than a dozen best-selling books, including the well-known “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.”
