IU’s NCAA Tournament hopes ended on Monday, when the team did not receive an at-large bid.
Now the Hoosiers (19-10) will prepare for a run in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament. The team will face either Dayton or Oakland at 2 p.m. Sunday at Assembly Hall.
Oakland (26-6) will host Dayton (20-13) in the first round in Rochester, Mich. Oakland fell one game short of an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, losing to No. 14 South Dakota State 79-69 in the Summit League championship game.
Dayton also fell one game short of an automatic bid, losing to Richmond in the Atlantic 10 championship game 54-48.
IU will hold an open practice from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday at Assembly Hall, followed by a scrimmage from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. After the scrimmage, IU players will sign autographs.
This is the second year the Hoosiers have received a first round bye in the tournament.
IU is 6-5 all time in the tournament. In 2007, the Hoosiers advanced to the third round of the tournament.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children and IU students.
See idsnews.com and the print edition on March 23 for coverage of the game.
