Beginning in April, alumna Joyce Ritchie will be the new director of development for the IU Jacobs School of Music.
Ritchie has spent ten years at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, leading development and public relations programs in music, the arts, social services and public media.
"The appointment of Joyce Ritchie concludes an extensive search in which we sought to identify an individual who blends the right combination of attributes with a love of our field and our school," said Gwyn Richards, dean of the Jacobs School of Music in a press release. "In Joyce Ritchie, we have found the consummate professional, a perceptive and caring person, a musician and a graduate of Indiana University. Her love of IU is deep and abiding -- which, when combined with the breadth of her experience, provides us with a singular person equal to the varying expectations of our school."
Ritchie was associate dean of External Relations at Peabody. She recently led a campaign, the largest in Peabody's 150-year history, that raised more than $45 million for a capital project that increased scholarship, faculty support and endowment.
