Man’s remains found in Monroe County show age, time frame

The remains of a man found Monday in southeast Monroe County could have been in the area since last fall, said Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Cpt. Kenneth Barnes.

Investigators have also estimated that the man was probably in his mid-50s, Barnes said. The remains were found at noon Monday by a resident in the 5400 block of East Lampkins Ridge Road.

Detectives and forensic anthropologists are searching missing person reports and talking to people in the area to try to figure out the man’s identity, which is their first priority, Barnes said.
