IU to launch redesigned, 'dynamic' Web site

People visiting the IU-Bloomington Web site will see some changes beginning May 18.

Visitors to the Web site will find a new design that includes dynamic, user-friendly features and better access to information, according to a press release.

Although there will be a new design, the Web site will continue to have components of the current site, such as the A-Z Big List, news and event sections and topical and audience navigation. The new site will add more photography, video, a new virtual campus tour and integration with IU's emergency communication system.

"Our talented team of designers and Web developers has created an appealing site that reflects the vibrant life and culture of our institution," said Provost Karen Hanson in a statement. "It is our hope that the redesigned, more dynamic campus home page will provide a high-quality experience for all who use it."

A goal of the site, www.iub.edu, is for the design to be more responsive to different audiences such as prospective students, current students, faculty and staff. The new design will highlight more content from academic departments and schools to communicate academic opportunities more effectively.

An advisory committee of faculty, students and staff guided the design development, and a similar maintenance committee will help the Web team keep site content fresh and varied, according to a press release.

This summer, the Office of the Provost will prepare templates based on the new site design that IUB units may adopt if they wish.
