MORE INFO Ryan Hoffman, a local glassblower, will give a free demonstration of glassblowing on the porch of The Venue and discuss his process. In addition, there will also be several of Hoffman’s pieces for sale and a reception after the demonstration.

Summer Music Festival: Symphony Orchestra

MORE INFO The final concert of this year’s Summer Music Festival will be a performance of the Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Cliff Colnot. Colnot is the principal conductor of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and of the MusicNOW series from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The free concert will feature works by Schubert and Hindemith.

MORE INFO This Noel Coward-written play focuses on aging actor Garry, played by Paul DeBoy, and his exploits dealing with romantic overtures, his wife and his work as an actor. The cast includes national and regional-level professional actors and several theater MFA candidates. Tickets are $12 for children and students and $20 general admission. International Year of Astronomy Summer Film: ‘Moonraker’

MORE INFO “Moonraker,” the final film of this summer’s International Year of Astronomy Summer Film Series, is a 1979 James Bond film wherein Bond, played by Roger Moore, tries to thwart an international genocide plan after a suspicious midair space shuttle theft. The International Year of Astronomy is celebrating the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s first telescope use. The film is free and is followed by open viewing hours at the Kirkwood Observatory.
