Former Hoosier Amber Jackson inks pro contract with Spanish team

Former IU women's basketball forward Amber Jackson is headed to Spain to play professional basketball, the IU athletics department announced on its Web site Friday.

Jackson signed a one-year contract with Club Baloncesto Arxil, the Spanish Basketball Federation team in Pontenvedra, Spain.

"I'm so grateful that I have this opportunity to continue playing basketball and at the professional level," Jackson told IU. "In every basketball player's life, the ball stops bouncing at some point and I feel immensely blessed that I still can continue doing what I love to do on the hardwood."

In two seasons with the Hoosiers, Jackson scored 817 points and had 413 rebounds. She shot 51.9 percent from the field in her 62-game-career with the Hoosiers.

Before joining the Hoosiers in her junior year, she played two seasons with San Jose State.

With her signing, she becomes the second Hoosier to sign professionally overseas this summer. Kim Roberson, a former IU guard, signed a five-year contract with Samsung Life Bichumi in South Korea earlier this summer.
