It's the Law

Go Skating

Your parents might be cool with skateboarding, but in certain areas of Bloomington it’s still considered a public nuisance. Here’s what you need to know.

1. Unless you’re at a crosswalk, stay off the street when you’re on a board.

2. Skateboarding is prohibited in the following areas:

  • Kirkwood Avenue, between Indiana Avenue to College Avenue.
  • Sixth Street, between Walnut Street and College Avenue.
  • Walnut Street, from Third Street to Seventh Street.
  • Third Street Park fountain circle.

3. Get caught violating any of the above, and it’s a $10 fine.

4. Bloomington has a skate park – so use it. Upper Cascades Skate Park,
2602 N. Kinser Pike. Open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
