Kyrie Irving, No. 9 in class of 2010, set for IU visit weekend of Oct. 2

It was not a matter of “if,” but instead a matter of “when.” Five-star senior point guard Kyrie Irving will be on campus for his official visit the weekend of Oct. 2, according to Adam Zagoria.

That weekend, IU football is set to host Ohio State and the North End Zone is set to be unveiled.

It has appeared to be a two-team race for Irving's services between IU and Duke, the latter of which he plans to visit the weekend of Sept. 25. But Irving has in-home visits scheduled with seven schools and can officially visit up to five schools including IU and Duke.

Kentucky is also expected to be one of those schools to get an official visit from the New Jersey guard, Zagoria said.

As for the in-home visits, Drederick Irving, Kyrie’s father, listed “Kentucky, Duke, Indiana, Texas A&M, Seton Hall, Georgia Tech and UConn” as the seven schools that will visit with the Irvings. The IU coaches are expected to make their visit Sept. 14.

Stay tuned for more information as the IDS tries to track down Irving. In the meantime, check out coverage of the Bob Knight IU Athletics Hall of Fame induction online and in today’s IDS.
