Art Museum becomes coffeehouse on Thursday nights

The leaves will start to change and the temperature outside will drop as fall nears, but the IU Art Museum will stay warm as it combines coffee with art, music and more during its coffeehouse nights series.

The first of three nights in the series has a Pre-Columbian theme and is from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Thomas T. Solley Atrium.

In addition to the Raymond and Laura Wielgus Gallery of the Arts of Africa, the South Pacific, and the Americas, the museum will have traditional Latin American music and singing.

Coffee samples and refreshments from the Angles Café & Gift Shop and Bloomingfoods will also be available. Bloomingfoods is one of the event’s sponsors along with the IU West European Studies Center, Ryder Magazine and Blairex Laboratories, Inc.

The event includes an art scavenger hunt and raffle.

The second coffee house night is Sept. 10 with an ancient art theme, and the third night Sept. 17 has a Haitian theme.
