Cagle to perform concert at IU

IDS REPORTS

Country artist Chris Cagle’s performance will be the IU’s official 2009 IU Homecoming show.

The concert will be the first homecoming concert to take place at the tailgating fields in Hoosier Village just west of the DeVault Alumni Center, said Jason Apple from ASB Enterprises.

The company is sponsoring the event with help from the IU Student Alumni Association and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to IU SAA, who will in turn use the donation to help the community, said Apple who is also an IU alumnus.

He added that the concert will be family-friendly and  will attract community members as well as students to bring them together for homecoming.

Director of Media Relations and Client Representation for ASB Enterprises Amy Cacich said the company chose Cagle for the concert because he is a popular country performer and released a new CD last year.

“He appeals to that Midwest country group,” said Cacich, who is also an IU junior.
A platinum recording artist, Cagle has had four top 10 hits and dozens of other hits including ”My Love Goes On And On” and “Chicks Dig It.”

Cacich said the concert is on a Tuesday night because other homecoming events such as the football game haven’t happened yet and it is a way to excite students about homecoming week.

She added that outside of the concert will be apparel vendors, food vendors and businesses from the community.

The concert will appeal to students because it will be one of the last times students can attend an outdoor show before the weather becomes cold, Apple said.
